Book Review

The Forever War

The Forever War

The story is brilliant. Quite possibly one of the best books I have ever read. Haldeman interweaves personal relationships, infantry battles, spaceship battles, effects of relativity, social issues, and politics in a way which makes them all interesting.

Triplanetary (The Lensman Series Book 1)

Triplanetary (The Lensman Series Book 1)

Listen to the Podcast Triplanetary by E.E. "Doc" Smith is the first book in the Lensman series, first published January 1934 in Amazing Stories.  There are six total books in the Lensman series.  I chose to read Triplanetary because I am expanding my knowledge in Science Fiction. I don't want to...

We are Legion (We are Bob) Bobiverse Book 1

We are Legion (We are Bob) Bobiverse Book 1

I generally dislike cheesy Science Fiction. I didn't care for Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Starship Troopers, or Battlefield Earth.  I'm talking about the movies.  I understand people say they are some of the best Science Fiction books ever written. It's too bad the movies ruined them for me.  I...

Rumors of War – Web of Truth (Cadicle Series Books 1 and 2)

Rumors of War – Web of Truth (Cadicle Series Books 1 and 2)

As a Science Fiction reviewer, I cross paths with many authors. Several times authors have suggested I read their work and give a review. I don't feel comfortable getting copies of the book for free, so I typically read the description on Amazon and see if the description is interesting...

Ringworld

Ringworld

Listen to the Podcast As I dig deeper into writing reviews, I am drawn toward titles which helped define science fiction. Like any other course of study learning the history improves comprehension.  I'd like to be one of those people who know where the tiniest of references originated.  I think...

Noumenon

Noumenon

I put off writing this review for a week. I went back and forth trying to figure out how to convey my thoughts on this book to my readers and viewers.  I don't know what else to do besides just say it. Noumenon is the most frustrating book I have...

One Way

One Way

Out of my comfort zone. It is becoming a theme. It is interesting how I come across the books I read. I had just finished a space opera and was looking for something a bit different when I came across Jeff Lane on twitter.  Jeff suggested I read One Way....

Earth Defiant (Ember War Saga Book 4)

Earth Defiant (Ember War Saga Book 4)

Last time I reviewed a book by Richard Fox, it was book one through three of the Ember War Saga. My comment we overall positive however I was critical of the overall originality of the story. My suggestion was to continue buying and reading the Ember War Saga in-between other...

Altered Carbon (Takeshi Kovacs Novels book 1)

Altered Carbon (Takeshi Kovacs Novels book 1)

If you are a long time reader of my reviews, you will note I like to explain how I came to acquire and read the book. This review of Altered Carbon is no different. I read many books, mostly fiction. Of the fiction 99% science fiction. A friend told me...

The Wrong Stars: Axiom Book one

The Wrong Stars: Axiom Book one

Recently I have been reading books which were otherwise out of my comfort zone. The Wrong Stars by Tim Pratt is directly in my preferred genre, space opera. What makes this pick unusual for me is the Author. Usually, Pratt doesn't write science fiction. In the acknowledgments, he states that...
